Motion & Timing
Screen Tearing Test
Fast scrolling bars that reveal tearing without V-Sync/VRR.
How to use
- 1Click Start and watch the moving bars.
- 2Use ← / → to switch between vertical bars (reveals horizontal tears) and horizontal bars (reveals vertical tears).
- 3A clean image means no tearing; a break where the bars misalign is a tear.
- 4Toggle V-Sync or adaptive sync (G-Sync/FreeSync) and compare.
- 5Press Esc to exit.
FAQ
How do I stop tearing?
Enable adaptive sync (G-Sync/FreeSync) for tear-free, low-lag motion, or V-Sync to cap frames to the refresh rate (adds some lag). See our screen tearing guide for the full breakdown.
Tips
- Use the vertical-bars frame for horizontal tears and the horizontal-bars frame for vertical tears.
- Toggle V-Sync or adaptive sync (G-Sync/FreeSync) and watch the tear line appear or vanish.
