How to use

  1. 1Pick an effect with the ← / → arrows under the Start button: cracked, glitch, TV static, no signal, dead pixels, pixel glitch, Windows BSOD, Windows XP, Mac crash, Linux panic, iOS recovery, or Android crash.
  2. 2Click Start to go full-screen, then hand the device over.
  3. 3Tap anywhere (or press Esc) to reveal it was a prank.

FAQ

Will this damage my screen?

No. It's just an image displayed in your browser. Nothing is changed on your device and it disappears the moment you tap or exit.

How does the person get out of it?

Tapping or clicking anywhere, or pressing Esc, ends the prank and returns to the page. Nothing is installed, and closing the tab ends it too.

Is it safe for people sensitive to flashing?

Several effects flicker or glitch on purpose. Don't use the prank on anyone with photosensitive epilepsy or who is sensitive to flashing light.

Tips

  • Set brightness high and turn the device over quickly so the prankee can't see the address bar.
  • Match the screen to the device — the Mac crash on a MacBook, BSOD on a Windows laptop — for the most convincing prank.
